The last full week of May is upon us as we gradually tip into the tourist season. We wrapped up last week on our stage with a rollicking comedy by BICS 4/5/6 graders, pictured here. And here’s a rundown of this week’s highlights at your Community Center, with details to be found on the Community Calendar on this page.
On Tuesday at 5:30 PM in the auditorium is a Public Forum focusing on the Beaver Island Broadband Initiative – a project of the Beaver Island Association and the townships’ Joint Telecommunications Advisory Committee to bring fiber optic cable to homes and businesses here. The public will be given updates on the effort, participate in a Q & A, and take part in a survey on the subject of the island’s digital needs.
At 6 PM on Tuesday night is our last installment of Trivia Night for the month, held in the Hangout with great prizes and a table full of free snacks and drinks. ‘Let’s Get Quizzical!’ trivia teams must consist of no more than 6 people per team – and if possible, please place your food orders by 5 PM, so we can have you served and seated before the contest begins. Feel free to bring a dish to share – and it’s a BYOB event. Stay tuned to our media platforms for updates on summer Trivia Nights.
There will be no ‘Time for Art’ on Wednesday evening, as that program will resume in the fall – though Open Studio sessions without instructors may be scheduled throughout the summer as time and space allow.
Please note that the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings now begins at 9 AM, a change from the previous start time.
Senior Coffee and Doughnuts returns to our lobby on Friday from 8-10 AM, offering those 60 and over a chance to enjoy treats and java in the company of their friends and neighbors.
Also please note that there will be no movies at BIC Center this weekend to accommodate Memorial Day weekend activities. Movies will resume in June, but on Monday evenings. See you at your Community Center !
