Spring is dancing in as we go from April to May, echoed by a lively scene on our stage last week. BICS elementary and middle school students rocked the theater with thoughtful poems and great dance moves, led by acclaimed performer and arts educator Paige Hernandez, bringing everyone to their feet. Pictured here are Hernandez along with students, parents, and teachers joining in the fun before a full house.
More art leads the week with Wednesday’s Time for Art class at 5 PM, this time featuring botanical tile-making led by guest instructors Larissa McGinnity and Mark Englesman. (This class is size-limited and already full, but you can put your name on the waiting list by calling 231-448-2022).
Friday from 9 AM-11 AM is another chance to socialize with your friends and neighbors during Senior + Vets Coffee and Doughnuts in the lobby. Many thanks to the anonymous donor who keeps this popular gathering supported (almost 60 folks attended last week!)
And on Saturday is May the Fourth Be With You, our Star Wars Watch Party! From 2 PM – 10:30 PM, we’ll be showing Episodes IV, V, and VI: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, in that order. In between the movies will be a presentation by the BI Robotics Team and an adult and kids Costume Contest; and we’ll host a small cantina at the counter with special mocktails. Get your costumes ready and join us for some classic space opera! More details on the Community Calendar above. See you at your Community Center !
