Dear Friend of the BICCenter and WVBI,
First and foremost, we hope you are safe and well. This has been a challenging spring for all of us with continued uncertainty expected for months to come. The Beaver Island Community Center (BI Community Center) and WVBI are facing these challenges as well. We just hired our first CEO, Marcy Dean, and she is working hard to meet these new challenges.
Given the current situation with COVID-19 issues, the board has decided to conduct this year’s Gala Auction as a virtual auction. It will happen entirely online in a new auction center we have added to the BI Community Center website. The auction center is not open yet, but after June 15th it will be available at gala2020.biccenter.org. If you click on the link now, you will see a preview of what we have planned.
Of course, we need items to list for the auction and that is where you come in. We are hoping that you will be able to donate items as so many of you have done in the past. Our local partners have been incredibly generous, and we hope you can do so again this year. We have received a variety of items including golf packages, aerial photos, cords of wood, driveway gravel, power washing, paintings, pizza packages, works of art and photos just to name a few. I will be contacting you in the near future to discuss any help you can provide.
We need your items by June 1 in order to photograph the items, and catalog, price and post them on the website. We will keep the website updated regularly. Bidding will open June 15th and continue through August 5th at 8:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get exposure for your business. It’s creative, and it’s a work in progress, but it should be fun!!
There are several ways to donate your item. The BI Community Center will accept item donations, and if you prefer not to enter the Center at this time you can call ahead to arrange a delivery time. If you need to deliver an item to the BI Community Center by mail, UPS, FedEx, or another delivery service, please use the following address for the BI Community Center:
Beaver Island Community Center
26215 Main Street
Beaver Island, MI 49782 |
We want to remind you that no tax dollars are levied to run the BI Community Center or WVBI. We rely entirely on our fund-raising activities to keep the doors open. In these uncertain times, we feel our operations are more critical than ever to the residents and guests of Beaver Island.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support of our community. I look forward to talking to you soon.
