Summer is rolling along and your Community Center is keeping apace, with another week of great fun and high culture on the schedule. Check out the Community Calendar at the top of this page for more info on our regular programs like Summer Yoga and Senior/Veterans Coffee and Doughnuts, and read on for the main events.
Monday at 6:30 is Trino’s Magic House Party. As seen on The CW network’s show Masters of Illusion, Grand Rapids Comedy Magician Trino will be making a stop at Beaver Island Community Center for a NO-COST comedy magic show – but you do need to reserve a seat at the Tickets page above this post. This is a love and support-based show. Please come prepared to make a contribution to the artist following the performance. We were selected as 1 of just 30 stops on Trino’s Magic House Party Tour. 30 shows in 30 days in celebration of Trino’s 30th Birthday! It’s a night of family fun, laughter, and magic—perfect for all ages! Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event.
On Tuesday at 6:00 PM is this month’s Let’s Get Quizzical! Trivia Night. Gather your team of brainiacs, class clowns, and rogue Wikipedia editors for a night of cutthroat (but cozy) competition. It’s trivia. It’s potluck. It’s BYOB. It’s basically everything you love—plus an excuse to show off. Will your team reign supreme and claim the coveted trivia crown? Or will you go down in glorious flames, armed only with confidence and incorrect movie quotes? Team entry is $20.00 Only one person needs to register for your team, with a maximum of 6 players. (Your summer trivia fee helps us keep trivia nights free in the cooler months. You’re supporting a year-round tradition of fun—thank you!) Register at the Tickets page above. Please note: If more than 10 teams register, we will hold Trivia Night in the Theater instead of the Hangout.
And on Saturday is Baroque on Beaver’s Opening Night Performance, with a 6:30 PM Artist Reception and a 7:30 PM showtime in the BIC Center Theater. Jaeden Izik-Dzurko is returning this year to perform solo, and with Jamie Crawford and Andrea Yun in Beethoven’s Ghost Trio. Join them for an elegant evening of music, cuisine, and conversation. Music of Chopin, Ravel, Ligeti, and Schumann will highlight an elegant evening of food and wine, champagne and desserts at the pre-show reception, and an after-performance opportunity to meet Mr. Izik-Dzurko. Again, get your tickets at the Tickets page on this website –
And we’ll see you at the Community Center!
