Halloween is behind us, after trick-or-treaters scooped up goodies at the BIC Center and creative carvers offered up jack-o-lanterns for display at our Pumpkin Walk in the auditorium. With November underway, below are the main events at your Community Center for the week, with more details as always on the Community Calendar above.

Tuesday marks the return of regular Indoor Pickleball games to our auditorium, played inside during winter months until warm weather returns in the spring. That happens on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 – 12 Noon. Pickleball is great exercise, good fun, and fosters camaraderie. Anyone can play, and players are happy to make room for novices. Other ways to stay updated on Pickleball games are through the TEAMREACH app, available on Google Play and the Apple App store, using Code 4Beaverisland; and the Facebook Group Page Beaver Island Pickleball.  Wednesday at 5:00 PM is another fun Time for Art class, this week focused on——- with —-. Ages 60+ attend free; $5.00 suggested donation for all others.

And as Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) approaches, it’s time for your Medicare Plan review, to ensure that your coverage meets your needs for the coming year. On Thursday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM you can meet with Bill & Toni Tarrant of Apex Insurance Services, LLC to discuss any changes to your medications, doctors, or pharmacies. To schedule an appointment, call 888-858-2739, or email toni@apexins-llc.com. Please note that as part of the Tarrant’s availability this week, on Friday at 5:30 PM in the upstairs Hangout they’ll be offering an Educational Seminar on the federal government’s 2025 tax and spending bill, and it’s impacts on Medicaid/Medicare programs. The seminar is free and open to the public.

Saturday’s double feature in the theater starts at 3:00 PM with the PG-rated A Minecraft Movie, an action-comedy where four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre cubic wonderland, which they have to master in order to get back home; starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black. Then at 6:00 PM is Famous Last Words: Dr. Jane Goodall, a documentary sharing the memories and unpublished stories detailing the life and scientific work of the late, famed primatologist Jane Goodall. Freewill donation suggested, and concession stand open for snacks, a meal, or both.

See you at the Community Center!
