The mid-January cold snap held on through last week, making ice in the harbor and on inland lakes. At your Community Center a good-sized group came in from the chill to enjoy Wednesday’s art class pictured here, learning oil painting from Lois Stipp and Cindy Ricksgers.

This week holds more enticing events to bring you in our doors. Highlights are a tasty COA luncheon on Wednesday from Noon to 1 PM, featuring a self-serve taco bar with all the fixin’s, Mexican rice and beans, and a beverage and dessert. Suggested donation is $6.00 for those 60 and over, and $9.00 for those under 60. Later at 5 PM’s Time for Art is the second installment of Lois Stipp’s oil painting class, though the class is limited to 12 participantsand as of Monday afternoon the class is now full.

Saturday is a full day at BIC Center, when we show the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, from The Fellowship of the Ring through The Two Towers and finishing with The Return of the King. Woven into the Noon-to-11:30 PM marathon are a pre-showing round of coffee and nibbles, afternoon tea, and a potluck dinner based on Middle Earth recipes. We’ll also have a couple of LOTR trivia rounds, one at ‘Elevenses’ at 11 AM and a shorter round during afternoon tea at 3:30 PM.

All our other great programs happen throughout the week as well, with details to be found on the Community Calendar at biccenter.org. See you here !
