The island finally saw some long-delayed snow after a grey holiday season, brightening into a winter landscape. Here at your Community Center we’ve got a steady stream of fun and healthy activities to occupy your time during the ‘slower season’.

Highlights this week start with the return of Time for Art after a holiday hiatus, this Wednesday offering Collage with Cindy Ricksgers. This class is focused on creating a portrait and/or a landscape out of collage rather than traditional painting or drawing materials. $5.00 donation, but free for those 60+. That’s followed at 7 PM with Adult Faith Formation in the Hangout.

Saturday’s movies on the big screen with the big sound are the PG-rated animated family comedy Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget: having pulled off an escape from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has found a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new threat, and Ginger and her team decide to break in. 7 PM features the R-rated dramatic biography Priscilla, the story of a teenage Priscilla Beaulieu’s love affair with Elvis Presley, the meteoric rock-and-roll superstar who becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments. Concessions available, and donations appreciated.

Our regular programs continue, from exercise programs (including new COA Cardio Drumming) to COA Bingo and Senior+Veterans Coffee and Doughnuts, with details to be found on the Community Calendar and our social medial pages. Take the time to stop in the BIC Center and enjoy yourself as January unfolds!
