Last Saturday’s apple cider-pressing in the BIC Center theater was a juicy afternoon of old-fashioned fun. A hardy group of enthusiastic locals gathered to grind, mash, press and boil gallons of the tasty drink made from the fruits of island orchards, while others trickled in during the event to take a peek and a sip. The second annual Johnny Applesqueeze gathering was led by Pete Haak and Kate Eisenmann, who brought in both rebuilt vintage and newly-constructed equipment fashioned from beautiful oak and enameled steel to make the pressing possible. Pictured here are some of the group operating the press, with more pics to be found on local Facebook pages.
