It’s been a busy fall with a sudden change in weather, but we are all set for that! The BIC Center has a full line-up of holiday events. On December 7th its time to light up the community Christmas Tree and get in the spirit of the season.  The tree lighting will be at 5:30 followed by holiday treats and a hot cocoa bar at the BIC Center running right up to Home for the Holidays with the Stay Happy Band at 6:30 in the theater. On the 9th, our Theater comes alive with a special performance of A Christmas Carol.  It’s the classic Christmas play performed in a one-man show as originally staged by author Charles Dickens. We’re thrilled to bring this show back to the Island in cooperation with the Great Lake Center for the Arts. On the 14th, there’ll be an Artisan’s Market in the theater at the BIC Center at noon followed by the arrival of special guests from the North Pole at 2:00.  There’ll be special holiday treats and a photographer on hand plus your favorite holiday shows in the BIC Center Theater. (Please sign up to see Santa so we can be prepared with treats.) Then on the 18th we’re turning the idea of a candlelit concert into an island tradition by bringing that event back for a second year. Please join us for a Candlelit Christmas with NoMi Strings Collective. Then, on the 19th, join us for a Tunes Holiday Recital at 5:30 p.m. in the Theater.  Tunes students who have been taken lessons at the BIC Center will display their new talents in a special holiday concert.

All of these vents are free…our Christmas gift to the community that supports us. But, you do need to register in advance to reserve your seat.  Do that at tickets.biccenter.org.

We also have to nights of Trivia planned. Let’s Get Quizzical is on December 10th and December 30th. The trivia starts at 6:00 p.m. both evenings. Sign your team up at tickets.biccenter.org.

We also have movies planned for the month. On December 21 our retro show of the month is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  Showtime will be 4:00 p.m. Then, to finish off the year we are thrilled to bring you the just released Wicked on December 28th. It’s the backstory of the Land of Oz brought from the Broadway stage to the Big Screen at the BIC Center in a film that’s been winning rave reviews.  Showtime is 6:00 p.m. As always, our Concession Stand will be open for both shows for snacks, a meal or both.

We look forward to celebrating this special time of year with you at your Beaver Island Community Center.
