Warming temperatures and Willy Wonka met up last weekend at the BIC Center, as we hosted old and new versions of the classic story, bringing in kids of all ages to see the films. Our lobby matched with candy-colored decor – and special candies are still available at our counter, so make sure to bring your kids in to savor them soon.

This week’s main events lead with Emma Antkoviak demonstrating Paper Bag Window Decorations at Wednesday’s 5 PM Time for Art. For those attending, please remember to place your food orders before arriving, so our staff has time to get you fed and seated in the auditorium for art class.

Friday at 6:00 PM is our first-ever Mario games competition for vintage Nintendo fans. The 2024 Mario Kart Championship tests your racing racing skills to win it all. BYOB and snacks if you like. The bracket only fits 20 people, so you must register beforehand at biccenter.org/tickets. Winners will receive a trophy, a small prize, and of course, bragging rights! Must be 21 to participate.

And we’ve got a special St. Patrick’s Paint & Sip event on Saturday at 3:30 PM in the Hangout. Get in the spirit of Beaver Island’s favorite holiday, while supporting the TUNES music education program. Participants can choose to paint one of two iconic Irish images, with instruction by The Vivid Spirits Art Lounge. Paint, supplies, beverages and snacks are included for $35.00 per person. Class size is limited, so please register early by calling/texting 231-675-5591, or email tunesmusicmakers@gmail.com

Saturday movies are 4:00 PM’s animated adventure-comedy The Inventor. When his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom. Meals and concessions available, but please place your meal orders ahead of time to allow us to get you fed and seated.
