May arrives with a long-awaited shift. After months of heavy snow and winter’s quiet stillness, the island begins to soften—days grow longer, the air feels lighter, and there’s a renewed sense
of energy in the community. At the Beaver Island Community Center, the month reflects that transition, with a mix of new programming, special events, and the familiar weekly happenings
that continue to bring people together. Below are the month’s highlights.
Monday FunDays | Beginning May 4
Monday nights at the BIC Center are getting a fresh start this summer with the launch of Monday FunDay—your weekly dose of summer fun. Each week will bring something a little
different, offering an easy way to gather, try something new, and a fun way to start the week.
• May 4 at 6:00 PM – Artist Workshop
In the first of our summer Artist Workshops, Chris McKenna and Monica Longlet will lead us in making Fairy Homes & Gardening Arrangements.
• May 11 at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM – Monday Movies
We’ll be showing Goat (PG) at 3:00 PM, followed by One Battle After Another (R) at 6:00 PM.
• May 18 at 6:00 PM – Open Mic + Karaoke
Join us for a relaxed, welcoming evening where performers and audience members alike can share in the fun.
Mother’s Day Relaxation Station | May 9 from 12:00–2:00 PM
Celebrate the moms in your life with an afternoon designed for rest and care. The Mother’s Day Relaxation Station offers a simple but meaningful opportunity for mothers to slow down, be
cared for, and enjoy a bit of well-deserved relaxation in a welcoming environment.
Beaver Island Community School Play | May 15 at 7:00 PM
The BIC Center is proud to once again host the Beaver Island Community School’s 5th & 6th Grade play in the auditorium. This beloved tradition showcases the creativity and hard work of
local students and offers the community a chance to come together in support. Tickets are available for purchase at the BIC Center front desk.
3rd Annual BIC Center Golf Tournament | May 23 at 9:00 AM
Returning over Memorial Day weekend, the 3rd Annual BIC Center Golf Tournament brings together friendly competition and community support. The outing fee ($70 per player, $50 per
course member) includes a round of golf, lunch, and the opportunity to win both individual and team prizes. Sponsors are also welcome, making this event a meaningful way to support the
Center while enjoying a day on the course.
