St. Patrick’s festivities took over the village last weekend, including the Community Center, where we hosted a Shamrocks and Shenanigans program for kids in our lobby. Several families joined us for sidewalk art, face-painting, and hair-dying mixed in with cookie decorating, complete with adorable babies. It was a great way to include the young ones in the atmosphere before the traditional Clan-Na-Gael games began on Main Street.A bit more Irish goodness highlights this week at the BIC Center, in the form of a COA After-St. Paddy’s Luncheon at noon Wednesday. Served up will be a mouthwatering meal of corned beef and cabbage, mixed veggies, and Colcannon, a classic Irish dish, followed by a delicious apple crisp for dessert. A door prize will be awarded as well. The meal is priced at $9 for those 60+, and $13 for those under 60. Please RSVP by calling 231-448-2124. Please Note: There will be no Time for Art class this Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
Saturday from 3-4 PM is Quizzical Lite, a shortened version of our Tuesday night Let’s Get Quizzical! Trivia Game. It’s the same lively fun with only with half the rounds, but featuring great trivia questions, prizes and team rivalry. Come see the Lite and get your game on!
Following that are our Saturday movies, beginning with 4 PM’s animated adventure-comedy Immigration, in which a family of ducks try to convince their overprotective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime. 7 PM brings a bold musical remake of the iconic 1985 blockbuster The Color Purple, following the story of a woman who faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood. Full menu and concessions available, but please place your orders before screening times.
