Here’s a round-up of BIC Center events for the week of February 5-11, as an icy February unfolds:
New on the Community Center program menu is our first Open Mic Night on Tuesday, February 7 from 6-8 PM in the upstairs Hangout. Sponsored by the Harbour Bodega where it originally began, join us for an evening of music, song, poetry, and storytelling. Its BYOB, with concessions and food menu available downstairs. A sign-up sheet for artists is available at the Harbour Bodega.
At the end of the week on Saturday from 1:30-4 PM is our first Family Game Day, starting with ‘Nerf Wars’ in the auditorium, divided into Target Practice and Timed Battles, followed by a Yogurt Parfait Bar in the lobby afterward. Bring a Nerf Gun if you have one!Those games lead into our 4 PM Saturday matinee, featuring ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’, in which the sorceress and her goddaughter Aurora are pulled in different directions by complex family ties. At 7 PM is ‘The Fablemans’, director Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical tale of his youth, where the roots of his film-making career began.
Peppered through the other days are COA Chair Yoga at 10 AM Monday, Wednesday and Friday; the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program on Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 AM; COA Bingo on Wednesday from 1-2:30 PM; and Games Galore at 1-4 PM Thursday, all in the Hangout.
In the auditorium are Pickleball at 10 AM Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and ‘Time for Art’ from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, this week focused on Collage and Simple Prints. Plenty to keep you occupied, fit, and entertained at your Community Center as midwinter rolls along!
