Our 2022 Secret Garden Summer Gala hosted within Gene Masta’s beautiful gardens was a spectacular success with great music, delicious food, great company and lots of fun. But, none of that would be the case without the support of the many sponsors who donated items for auction and raffle, provided financial support and volunteered time to help us create such a nice evening. We can’t thank you enough. Your efforts allow us to continue making the BIC Center the heart of our community and WVBI the Voice of Beaver Island.
But, please don’t think summer is over at the BIC Center. Far from it. We have two great shows still coming up this month. The RFD Boys return to the BIC Center stage to deliver bluegrass and more on Saturday, August 20th. Their reputation for great musicianship and fun on stage generated a near sellout last year, and we expect the same this year. Showtime is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at tickets.biccenter.org.
On the 24th, the new Beaver Island Jazz series continues with the Ortwein Jazztet. Leader Mark Ortwein played to a packed house at Whiskey Point Brewery with the St, James Jazz Ensemble during Baroque week. He’ll bring the same energy to the BIC Center stage with his Jazztet with new takes on classic jazz charts and songs from their just-released album. Tickets are available here. And, if you want to double-down on jazz, purchase tickets to the Ortwein Jazztet and the Young Lions Collective performance on September 17 and save 20%. That’s tickets to both shows for just $40. And summer isn’t over in August either. Our Celebrate Summer 2022 season continues into September with another cabaret style show on the September 3 with the Outlaws of Country: Cash, Waylon & Willie in a tribute performance along with a cowboy style chicken dinner. Then, the Moxie Strings will be here on September 8th and, from Ireland, Aoife Scott on the 9th as part of the Irish Feile. Our season concludes on the 17th with the Young Lions Collective, the final show in the 2022 Beaver Island Jazz Series. Tickets for all of the shows are available at tickets.biccenter.org (but note that admission Aoife Scott’s show requires purchase of admission to the Irish Feile).
In addition to our great summer line up of shows, the BIC Center is a hub for island info, a place to grab a snack or head upstairs for games, pool, PCs or a place to plan your island adventures…or to just sit back and enjoy the view. No matter why you stop in, we look forward to seeing you at your Community Center.
