PABI’s Summer Gala was once again a successful event thanks to broad participation from the island community.  Many stepped forward to offer items for auction.  BIC Center staff and PABI volunteers worked very hard to organize the event.  A good time was had by all.  And, critically, we were successful in raising funds to support both the operation Community Center and WVBI.  Thanks to all for your support! We could not do what we do without it.

Our summer events continue this week with Baroque on Beaver taking the spotlight. Beaver Island Cultural Arts Association has two Gala Benefit Concerts planned.  The Licoln Trio will be in the McDonough’s Market Theater on Friday. Grammy-nominated and described by Strad Magazine as both “Sensational” and “Bewitching,” the trio is made up of Desirée Ruhstrat, violin, David Cunliffe, cello, and Marta Aznavoorian, piano.  Saturday evening,  Jeeyoon Kim returns to the BIC Center playing the BICAA’s Mason & Hamlin concert grand piano. “Simply a force of nature, one who lives for that special connection with a live audience,” says Gordon Brown from San DIego’s KFSD. Showtime both evenings is 7:30 with a reception planned to follow each performance.  Please plan to join us for these spectacular performances that are presented by and benefit Beaver Island Cultural Arts Association. Tickets are available for both the Lincoln Trio and Jeeyoon Kim from MyNorthTickets.

August is just around the corner with two events coming to the BIC Center.  On the 10th we’ll present an evening of stand up comedy for Homecoming Weekend as Ken Evans and Sal Delmilio turn the BIC Center into a comedy club. Ken brings a boy-next-door persona to the stage with an observational style of comedy that relates to every audience member. His energy is electric and his act is very visual, bringing his comedy to life with his command of the stage. Sal Delmilio is a true “stand up” that has performed at some of the best comedy clubs in the country, such as Caroline’s in New York City, The Comedy Store and Laugh Factory in LA, Zanies Comedy Club in Chicago, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, and The Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase in his home town of Detroit.  Don’t miss them Homecoming Weekend on America’s Emerald Isle at the BIC Center.Showtime is 8:00 p.m.

On August 30, we welcome Erin Coburn to the McDonough’s Market Theater for an evening of special music from this rising star. She has captivated her audiences since a young age, with her prowess on guitar, her powerful vocals, and bringing her own style of rock with blues influences into the 21st century.  Showtime is 8:00 p.m.  Tickets for both events are available at the BIC Center front desk or by calling +1 231-448-2022.
